Our Journey to Tampa ……..

Well those who were there know the scramble and how long it took us to decide on where we would be staying … but I just want to share the note card Reeko dropped on us that made us all have a change of plans. These are all write ups about the hotel we had Booked in Tampa… needless to say we are not staying there now – altho could have made a great story.

* This is NOT a write ups of the Hotel where the convention is being held
here are some funny quotes compiled by reeko

“…One of the rooms was musty, smelled of cat urine and had not been swept and the refrigerator had leftover food in it. It was also dark and dingy….”

“The Sailport is basically a holding pen for soldiers on temporary assignment or short leave. Servicemen are used to being ignored, bad food, and faulty services. Tourists will be surprised to find that this shoddy, out-of-date motel is reminiscent of unused US military installations in West Germany….”  <– LOL

“felt like a 60s basement. …the service was excellent.”

“Upon driving into the parking lot we were immediately stalked by other guests who made us feel uneasy. Upon entering the room we were overcome by the smell of mold, the sliding door to the balcony was left open and someones Burger King lunch was left waiting for us on the counter. It was still warm – which left us to wonder when the person would be returning to collect their lunch! We immeditely decided to check-out. This place was not safe, clean, or habitable for anyone who prides themselves on cleanliness. Much to our surprise, we found the phonebook in the room open to the page for hotels only leaving us to wonder if the last guest also had the same idea.”

“Facility was very old…room was dated, worn, tired and smelly. . Lots of noise in the hallways…slow elevator…and no amentities on premisis.”

“We walked into the very creepy room to find the beds unmade and already slept in the night before. I wasn’t sure if someone else was in the room at that point. Very scary. We called the desk and they had a “What do you expect us to do” attitude as housekeeping was not available at that hour. They told us they had no other rooms so I had to venture out with my 3 very exhausted children to find another place to stay. Awful experience. Rooms were not only dirty but very dated and creepy. The kid’s bunk beds looked like something out of an old camp cabin. Very, very creepy!”

“Would not recommend this hotel to a dog, when I went down the street less than 2 miles and stayed at Embassy Suites for less money.”

“This place is a complete DUMP!! From the dank corridors with t-bar/grid ceilings to the musty odor that permiates every corner of the property this place reminds me of an old Elvis song – “In the Ghetto”.”

“There is no way this hotel is a 3 star…. I am very angry that the various reservation sites label it as such. It is old, dank, musty, and should definitely NOT be called a 3 star.”

“The first thing I noticed was the moldy smell in the hallway which carried in to the room. The place looks and smells old. The bedspread was stained. The couch has seen better days. We were really disappointed and spent as much time out of the room as possible.”

“Location was pretty good, That is about it. The room stank, I had to go buy Febreeze the first night. Black mold around the refrigerator door. Some wrapped up left over food from somebody elese in the frig, did not touch or go near that. Bathroom was clean….”

“The only thing we liked was the location. The people were not friendly or helpful in the least! “

“The rooms have a very odd set up, the carpet was very dirty, the pull out sofa/bed was a mat that a dog would have trouble sleeping on, the room was very stuffy…”

“This hotel is far from a three star hotel. The room smelled horrible of urine. It was old, the sink in the kitchen was all rusted out, and the stove was falling over. Carpet stained. Very run down, dirty and old. I will never stay there again…”

“Great location, great staff, terrible odor at night.”

“The room smelled and was not clean. There was a sticky substance on the bedroom floor which was never cleaned during our stay. Kitchen was very dirty too. Wireless service did not work for 2 out of 3 days we stayed. No apologies, we were asked to contact the hotel’s provider…”

“As soon as I stepped into the room, all I could smell was Body Odor. The room smelled this way all through out. I asked the front desk if I could move, and the next room I walked in smelled like diarrhea. I chose the room that smelled like BO. The location is great b/c it’s near the airport and on the bay. However, I would spend the extra money next time to stay on the beach and for a hotel that isn’t so old. The other reason why it might smell so bad, is b/c there are tons of military men staying here. They are all hanging out outside…who knows. I give this hotel a one. I wish I was somewhere else.”

“The room needed updates. The dishwasher was disgusting, the blanket on the bed had a dried blob of mustard on it, the carpet was dirty. As soon as I walked in to the room – it just felt dirty.”

“This was by far the WORST hotel experience I have ever had!! There was constant noise: people yelling, throwing beer-bottles, car-horns blowing, and people running back forth to each other’s rooms at all hours of the night! Since the bedrooms were in the front room of the suite it made for an impossible night of sleep—EVERY NIGHT! It was like you paid to spend time in a frat-house!
Shady characters walked around day and night. I highly would not recommend that families stayed here!!! The hotel office workers didn’t seem to mind nor notice. I wouldn’t recommend using the pool because of this….”

“…Our little room was down in a dark corner of the hallway, and the AC would not turn on when I adjusted the thermostat. Nice view and all, but I could care less with that musty smell. The front desk staff was rather rude and unfriendly and they were extremely understaffed. Rather than spoiling our vacation, we decided to get the heck out of there…”

“We stayed at the Sailport in the middle of the week for two nights. As my wife said after the first night, “if I focus on the view, and ignore the room, this place isn’t so bad.”
The room had a funk to it. Odd smells, beat up furniture, and sad bed. The carpet was dirty and had two areas where someone had dropped a hot iron and melted the carpet…”
